Aficionados of, or anyone who has yet to experience Yorkshire’s first Pannier Markets which have been a monthly occurrence at Leeds’ Granary wharf since this April, are invited to the July event which takes place this Saturday at the newly completed waterside development. This month’s event is ideal for families with award-winning children’s entertainer, ‘Colonel Custard’, providing a ‘roving’ show using magic, juggling, plate spinning, balloon modelling and much more.
Leeds’ latest emerging talent- local singer/songwriter Hannah Trigwell, who after busking on the streets of Leeds aged just 17 released her debut EP this May, will be performing her heartfelt, summery melodies for visitors at the July market in addition to a series of acoustic/folk performances which will take place throughout the day.
Growing in size every month, June’s market was the biggest yet and the July event will see 67 independent producers taking stalls with an extended range of venders including new food and delicatessen stalls, hatmakers and vintage sellers joining the established mix of sellers of high quality cheese, sausage, retro fashion, photography, handmade gifts and much more.
In response to the uncertain summer weather, the market will feature some covered stalls for the first time this season. Visitors can also enjoy an urban story walk led by local storyteller Joe Collins. These stories are original tales about the history of Leeds which have never been told in this way before, compiled from anecdotes and fables gathered by Collins over many years.
